Details on Silicon Knights new X-Men action-RPG emerged last week, and thanks to a resourceful YouTube user, X-Men: Destiny‘s first legitimate in-game screens are online.

Apparently culled from the latest issue of Official Xbox Magazine (where the aforementioned intel came from as well), one of Destiny‘s three new — and part of official canon — mutant protagonists is center stage, dishing out the superpowered hurt to a slew of human and robotic foes. We also get a cameo from Gambit, just one of the several iconic X-Men heroes confirmed to cameo.

What’s the verdict so far? X-Men: Destiny certainly has me taking a wait and see approach. Clearly utilizing SK’s Too Human/UE3 engine, it’s not really dong much for me visually, but maybe it’ll look leagues more impressive in motion. Anyway, it’s the gameplay that will be the deciding factor, and the unique approach being taken sounds compelling.

Also, hipster Nightcrawler and extreme Tribal tattoos. No release date for the game yet, but it’s due later this year.
