Valve gives a Portal 2 co-op walkthrough, for science

Carefully directed screenshots and a brief trailer aren’t really the best way to experience Portal 2‘s co-op, and Valve know that.  At PAX this weekend, the studio gave a full 10-minute walkthrough of the sequel’s new two-player puzzle solving mode, and as much as I dislike co-op these days, I think I’m sold. This looks [...]

Portal 2 co-op shots drop in from PAX

Portal 2 doesn’t feature traditional multiplayer (thank god), but Valve have cooked up a standalone, story-based two-player co-op mode. And we approve. Players take on the role of two Robotic Test Subjects — one engineered from a turret, the other from a personality sphere — who are relegated to completing GLaDOS’s Aperture Science trials. adventuring [...]

Want big Valve surprises? There’s three on the way

Portal 2 is mere months away. Team Fortress 2 support is unlikely to end anytime soon. What could be next from Valve Software, Half-Life 2: Episode 3? A new downloadable title? A third Left 4 Dead (or Left 4 Dead on PS3)? Co-founder and managing director Gabe Newell tells PC Gamer UK that fans of [...]

In the end, there would have been only chaos for Portal 2 multiplayer

Portal 2 has two-player, standalone co-op. Did you know, though, that for a short time, Valve actually had competitive multiplayer functioning in the world of GLaDOS, Aperture Science and portal guns? Valve writer Erik Wolpaw tells 1UP that competitive play between Aperture test subjects was up and running “for a little while,” but was eventually [...]

New Portal 2 screens are a triumph, a huge success

Valve missed the Gamescom news boat by a few days here, but that’s okay. It’s new Portal 2 screenshots. All is forgiven. Take a peek at some of new environments Chell is going to subjected to next February, as she attempts to thwart GLaDOS’s tests once again. But in the future. Looks excellent.

Valve unveils new L4D/L4D2 expansion, The Sacrifice; No Mercy being ported to L4D2 [Update]

You’re not done with Left 4 Dead 2, are you? Valve certainly hope not, because they’ve just taken the lid off of a brand new expansion scenario coming to the co-op zombie shooter. “The Sacrifice” picks up the story of the recent L4D2 add-on The Passing, and lets players run and gun as the cast [...]

Portal 2 gameplay overload here!

Unless you’ve been to a few game industry events over the past few months, direct-feed footage of Portal 2 has been a rarity to see in person, but GameTrailers TV put an end to that this week. With Portal 2‘s February 9th 2011 release date being confirmed a few days ago, Valve is ready to [...]

The cake is not a lie: Portal 2 dated for February 2011

Delays be gone! Valve’s multiplatform Portal 2 has a new release date, after it slipped from fall 2010′s grasp. GLaDOS and Chell will be battling it out in the ruins of Aperture Science on February 9th, 2011. The news came out of the UK, so it’s currently unclear if this date also applies to North [...]

Wake up and smell the ashes with Beyond Black Mesa

Wake up and smell the ashes with Beyond Black Mesa

This may be the most amazing thing you will see all weekend. Valve are apparently in no hurry whatsoever to unleash Half-Life 2: Episode 3, or Half-Life 3 proper anytime soon, so what are the fans to do? If you’re like the folks from Beyond Black Mesa, you set out to make quite possibly the [...]
