Do Avalanche Studios actually know something about the next-generation hardware from Microsoft or Sony? It certainly sounds like they might.
Just days after announcing the fall 2011 opening of a New York-based studio, which will be developing a new IP for “next-generation” platforms and due out in 2014, boss of the Just Cause creator’s first North American branch tells EDGE:
“We obviously talk to everybody, and everybody talks to us. We have some intelligence to go on that, by early 2014, we’re pretty sure there’ll be at least one next-generation console on the market.”
The studio head goes on to say, “When we say ‘next-gen’ in the press release, it’s really a reference to what we think the market will look like then. Anyone who says they know what the market is going to look like three years from now is just blowing smoke. Whatever happens, we feel very confident that we’ll be ready for it.“
Reports peg at least one, if not both next-gen systems to follow 2012’s Nintendo Wii U, sometime in late 2013/2014.
