The quality of the end product may still be an unknown, but at least now we’ve got some actual in-game footage of The Avengers: The Video Game, THQ Australia’s now canceled tie-in to next May’s silver screen superhero mashup. It was a team-based effort in the works for PS3/360/PC.
Following the concept art and various character animations discovered last month, a video has been posted online this week showing off nearly three minutes of Avengers gameplay, captured from the early pre-alpha build. Word has it development lasted roughly 18 months by nearly 200 employees, before the axe was swung as a result of THQ Studio Oz’s closure.
The title’s unique first-person combat and movement is seen, as are locales like Manhattan, an alien Mothership and S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Helicarrier and Triskelion HQ. Like the previous materials outed, characters glimpsed include Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and various Skrulls (which may or may not indicate the villains in the upcoming movie).
As said before, there’s currently no word on if this project has since been handed to a new development partner, if a new approach has been started, or if Disney/Marvel has decided against an Avengers game all together.
In case the video gets yanked from YouTube, Kotaku has a backup here, and you can see the entire clip as a gallery below.

![How I got Vidmaster Challenge: Classic, in ODST [Update]](http://www.wouldyoukindly.com/wp-content/uploads/Halo3_ODST-50x50.jpg)

Was this a Kinect game? The first-person perspective and move set sure made it look that way. It’s a shame though. The Utlimate Alliance series is some of the best gameplay with licensed characters. I would have like a new perspective on this concept.
Unlikely this was for Kinect as you see the controller button prompts in the video.
