Fresh off of Borderlands, Gearbox Software has a full plate at the moment polishing up 2K’s Duke Nukem Forever, and completing Aliens: Colonial Marines for Sega. Not to mention their litany of other unannounced projects.

Both Duke and Aliens have been the definition of vaporware until last year, but since brief showings at PAX Prime, very little has been said on either. We know that DNF will have a demo before launch and is due sometime this year (no, really), and Colonial Marines is apparently looking really great, with a proper re-reveal in the coming months.

Speaking to EGM in their latest issue, Gearbox confirmed that fresh details on the long-in-development Duke Nukem sequel are hopefully set to drop either later this month, or early February, but declined to say exactly what. Will it be the unveil of the multiplayer? The first real in-game screenshots and direct-feed footage? News on when the demo will launch? Who knows.

On the subject of Sega’s DNF equivalent, Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford says that despite the publisher’s apparent readiness to show it, Aliens: CM is not going to be a 2011 title. You read that right — it seems it will be another year before we’re playing this. Whether it’s early, mid or late 2012, that’s yet to be determined.
