Yesterday, Robert Bowling (fourzerotwo), community manager for Infinity Ward gave us the first look at the MW2 Prestige Edition.

Above and beyond a typical Collector’s Edition (of which this game also has), the Prestige Edition is for really hardcore fans – or those who have a lot of extra cash lying around.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the SKUs:

Regular ‘Ol Version – $59.99

Just the game. And probably an instruction booklet.

Hardened Edition – $79.99

Includes the game, but comes in a spiffy metal case.

Art Book with pretty pictures.

Also includes a token to download the original Call of Duty, which is being released on Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network

Prestige Edition$???.?? $149.99

Includes the Hardened Edition

Also includes a set of “fully functional” night vision goggles. No, I’m not joking. The jury is out on if they are actually any good – but they sure look neat.

And for when you don’t feel like spying on your neighbors, you get a head bust to put those goggles on to show off to your soon-to-be ex-girlfriend.

Pricing and availability was not revealed, but we can assume its into the hundreds (maybe even two hundreds) of dollars.

Infinity Ward have announced that the MSRP is $149.99

That’s a $70 jump from the Hardened Edition, which seems reasonable for “fully functional” nightvision goggles.

And this is completely unconfirmed, but deaconblade on twitter had this to say:

prestige edition will be $149.99″

If that is indeed the case, then it’s not too awful considering what you are getting. That’s a $70 jump from the Hardened Edition, which seems somewhat reasonable for “fully functional” nightvision goggles.

We will have to await official confirmation on that though, and in the event that deaconblade was wrong, you should bug him about it on twitter

So deaconblade was right. You should all bug him on twitter until he reveals the location of his crystal ball

:)
