“There will be more Alan Wake, if we have anything to say about it,” Remedy’s Mikko Rautalahti says to Xbox World 360 magazine in a recent interview, speaking about the inevitable sequel.

Earlier this week the studio revealed that, at this point, they “don’t see any reason why” Alan Wake 2 wouldn’t happen, and that the series will remain an Xbox 360 exclusive, as it’s important to Microsoft Game Studios.

“It’s a bigger story than just one game, and we want to make it very weird and scary and wonderful,” Rautalahati continues. The writer claims that even if a sequel didn’t happen, “the first game would work just fine as a standalone product,” and that what happens at its climax is “not intended as a huge cliffhanger, it’s an ending to that story.”

Alan Wake‘s story at Bright Falls will continue in future DLC, which will act as a bridge to the sequel, what Remedy has previously referred to as “season 2″.

We have a very definite story arc and the weird and horrible things that happen to him, and what he needs to do in the end to put things right. Then he needs to do something else. We’ll get to that when the time comes.

Six years to developer the first game. Any guesses as to when we might see Mr. Wake rear his head once more?
